There are so many different paths to success. The work of a musician is now more than ever closer to that of an entrepreneur. So in reality working for a promising startup is closely related to what a music career entails. Everything I am doing on a daily basis is contributing to the larger purpose I am discovering for myself. Even though I am working 10-12 hour days at a startup, I am learning the in’s and out’s of how to run a small business, how to develop a brand through skilled graphic design, and management skills that are all valuable to leading a successful music career.
I keep telling myself when I get home at 8pm on a weekday that I gotta keep this vision alive and if I want to mold my future I have to continue to hold onto my dreams. It can be challenging to find time to work on my music and brand, but when I do, it’s one of the most rewarding feelings in the world to create new music, and prepare it for my fans to enjoy.
What do you think? Is there always a traditional path to stardom? What kind of sacrifices have you had to make on your path to success?
